S.C.U.T.E. performing inventory of a loggerhead nest on Pawleys Island beach.

We had a great loggerhead nesting season in 2024! Thank you to everyone who participated, from those who support the University of Georgia Warnell Loggerhead Sea Turtle Fund to those who came out to support our team during public inventory days.

Some statistics this year:

  • We identified and helped protect 19 loggerhead turtle nests in the S.C.U.T.E. Pawleys Island region along the South Carolina coast.

  • Protected over 1,900 loggerhead turtle hatchlings.

  • Hosted more than 1,000 members of the public during inventory days.
